The above quote is stated over and over again by the media, politicians, and clergies in Iran on a daily basis. Out of ignorance and toxicx hubris, they reiterate that American military action against their country is impossible because the US is not stupid. However, a fresh American military buildup in the Persian Gulf seem to mark a new focus on Iran that could signal another Cold War or even a deadly confrontation. Even Britain is joining an American military campaign to stop the Iranian influence in Iraq and the Gulf. Two Royal Navy minehunters have arrived in the Gulf to reinforce a naval frigate on patrol in the area.

Is President Bush trying to encourage more pragmatisms on the part of Iranians or is the military build up in the Persian Gulf is a prelude to a comprehensive attack not just by the US but other Arab Gulf States, Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia? The New York Times reports that Nine Arab countries in support of the Bush Plan are holding a conference in Kuwait this week. Glenn Kessler of the Washington Post also tells us that a group of eight Arab nations on Tuesday joined the United States in issuing a veiled warning to Iran against interfering in Iraq's affairs. point and I can't say I balme them. The signs are ominous for the crimianl kleptocracy.

In another sign that Saudi is taking on a larger regional role, Abdullah met with Iranian nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani over the weekend. Mr. Larijani delivered a letter to the monarch in which the Islamic Republic asked for help in easing tension between it and the US over Tehran's nuclear program.

These are not good times for Khameni and assorted thugs ruling Iran. The recent UN resolutions suggest that Iran's foreign support is fading. Its major supporters, China and Russia, may be falling by the wayside. Worst of all, Saudi Arabia is beginning to take the lead in opposition to Iran among the Arab states, after deciding that the Shi'ite regime is too great a threat to ignore. In succession, both Rice and Gates are visiting with King Abdullah this week to discuss measures against Iran. Has the war in Iraq turned into a duel between US and Iran? Are we finally able to handle the truth?
