Russia, in what appears to be in coordination with the United States, has decided to delay the completion of Iran's first nuclear reactor.


A senior Western defense source said Moscow and Washington have been discussing Russia's project to build Iran's first nuclear reactor at Bushehr. The source said Russian President Vladimir Putin has pledged to delay the transfer of nuclear fuel shipments to Bushehr until Iran accedes to the demands of the United Nations Security Council for an end to Teheran's uranium enrichment program.


"The Americans and Russians will never admit to this, but Putin does not want a crisis with the United States ," the defense source said. "The Russians are using the economic issue to cause problems with Iran."
