Islamic Republic of Iran , IR Constitution & Khomeini's Doctrine

Khomeini's Doctrine:
The government of Khomeini and his successors is based on a theory of government called velayat-e-faqih, literally meaning the guardianship of the religious jurist.

Velayat-e-faqih is in fact the essence of the mullahs' Islamic Republic. Incorporated into the constitution after the shah's overthrow, the immense powers bestowed on the vali-e-faqih have been expanded since Khomeini's death (1989). An understanding of exactly what the doctrine of velayat-e-faqih is and how it functions is essential to understanding the theocracy in Iran and its drive to export fundamentalism.Khomeini likened the vali's authority over the people to that of a guardian over a minor or mentally incompetent adult. "The velayat-e-faqih is like appointing a guardian for a minor. In terms of his responsibility and status, the guardian of a nation is no different from the guardian of MENTALLY INCAPACITATED or of a minor."

This dismissal of the notion of popular Will characterized Khomeini's rule, during which he repeatedly declared that if the entire population advocated something to which he was opposed, he would nevertheless do as he saw fit. Islamic Republic is NOT a Democracy. It is a Oligarcal Theocracy with semblance of Democracy i.e. it encourages and forces people to vote within set and strict parameters determined by the Clerics. In practice & ideology, it is very similar to a Communist State.

The main difference is that it uses a much more powerful vehicle than its Communist counterpart to deliver and enforce its message. That vehicle is a so-called "religion". That "religion" is called Islam or Political Islam - it looks to manipulate peoples' faith and bases its claims and actions on an unverifiable source i.e. "it is God's or Allah's word" as stated in the "Koran". It is an extremely dangerous Doctrine, which many in the West, especially Western Politicians & their advisers, after at least 28 years, still have not come to grips with and it, in my opinion, will work to their detriment in the medium to long run.Continue to read about his Doctrine: The Pillars of the Mullahs' Rule

The Islamic Republic is not a Communist state as the Islamic scholars fiercely oppose this. Notwithstanding this, "all large-scale and mother industries, foreign trade, major minerals, banking, insurance, power generation, dams, and large-scale irrigation networks, radio and television, post, telegraph and telephone services, aviation, shipping, roads, railroads and the like" are entirely owned by the government."
Islamic Republic of Iran Constitution:
Click on the "this link "to read further about the magnificent not so Islamic Republic Constitution. It is important to note that Khomeini never practiced his initial promises to Iranian People, especially upon his return and after the referendum in 1979. Secondly, IR Constitution was amended and made more stringent in 1989.

The original Constitution of the regime written soon after the revolution was quite democratic. It had to be because that is what the people wanted and Khomeini had to oblige but after the Iran-Iraq war in 1989 some Articles were amended or added to the constitution to ensure that the leader (valieh faghih) had the absolute power. These articles are: 5 - 57 - 60 - 64 - 69 - 70 - 85 - 87 - 88 - 89- 91 - 99 - 107 - 108 - 109 - 110 - 111 - 112 - 113 - 121 - 122 - 124 - 126 - 127 - 128 - 130 - 131 - 132 - 133 - 134 - 135 - 136 - 137 - 138 - 140 - 141 - 142 - 157 - 158 - 160 - 161 - 162 - 164 - 173 - 174 - 175
