Iran's Workforce in Disarray

Iran report.org, A very long report but well worth the read:

The Economic Situation Today

A significant portion of Iran’s population lives day to day. According to Iranian government statistics, 18 percent ofthe population (12 out of the 67 million) currently lives below the poverty line. Half of the 12 million poor do not receive any government assistance while two million live in extreme poverty and cannot afford daily meals.[1]Iran’s lagging economy has failed to produce jobs and the unemployment rate has soared in recent years. Government sources say the unemployment rate is somewhere between 11% and 12%, yet more impartial sources put it around 30%.[2] These economic ailments have caused a further expansion of urban slums and diminished the standards of living throughout the country.

The unwillingness of the government to pay doctors a living wage and the inability of patients to pay for services have left the industry crippled. The absence of government healthcare subsides has exacerbated this trend further. The education industry is also suffering, as teachers are constantly protesting their low government pay...more

Those pictures are haunting me! At least here the homeless do not have to put up with cold weather. Poor children.

I have so much compassion for these people. My heart cries for them. What else can we do in this world to help them get rid of this horrible treacherous regime?
