Tell me why we're supporting Al-Maliki's government?

NCRI - The Iraqi news website, al-Malaf reported that a U.S. embassy official in Baghdad revealed that Hassan Kazemi Qumi, the Iranian regime’s ambassador to Iraq, with the consent of Iraqi President and Prime Minister is routinely participating in ministerial security meetings of the Iraqi government.“One of the functions of this security apparatus is liquidating Tehran’s enemies among the Iraqi politicians and the Iranian opposition, People’s Mojahedin of Iran”, al-Malaf added.al-Malaf, July 10,2007: Day by day more facts are unfolding on the extent of Iranian meddling in Iraqi internal affairs, that had began from the day after the fall of Baghdad on April 9, 2003, and is still continuing. Dozens of intelligence reports are revealing the role of Iranian Quds force and intelligence agents that are working in coordination with militants from the Badr Organization, the Mahdi Army, part of the Dawa Party, and some other armed factions to implement the agenda of Tehran in Iraq.

Meanwhile, the two Iraqi governments that had been formed by the Shiite coalition and the Iraqi President Jalal Talabani have either denied these meddling or they have defended them.In the latest scandal on the blatant meddling, a U.S. embassy official in Baghdad revealed to al-Malaf that Hassan Kazemi Qumi, the Iranian ambassador to Baghdad, with the knowledge of Iraqi President and Prime Minister is routinely participating in the ministerial security meetings, (which includes Minister of the Interior, Minister of State for National Security Shirwan al-Vaeli, National Security Advisor Muwaffak al-Rubai’i and Abdel-Qader al-Obeidi, Defense Minister and representative of the Iraqi president).

The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that the Iranian ambassador is usually in agreement with whatever Shirwan al-Vaeli says except on the issues concerning the three Kurdish provinces. This body also includes elements of Badr Organization, the Mahdi Army and the al-Dawa Party and has very good logistical and communications facilities. They arrest and detain Iraqi citizens in the name of prime minister’s Office.

According to the same source Shirwan Al-Vaele and Muwaffak al-Rubai'i have prepared official draft legislation to legalize this security apparatus but it is not officially known whether it will be presented to the parliament. Last week the draft legislation had been completed. One of the functions of this apparatus is liquidation of Tehran’s enemies among the Iraqi politicians and members of Iranian opposition the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK). The source said that an Iranian intelligence officer identified as "Hashemi" played the role of the liaison officer and fully coordinates with al-Vaeli and al-Rubai’i in order to complete the structure of this security apparatus and the trainings of its elements in areas of intelligence and combat.

He noted that the management of security meetings attended by Iranian ambassador was limited to al-Rubai’i and al-Vaeli, and Kazemi Qomi. Kazemi Qomi is playing a prominent role in the formulation of security policies in Iraq. The presence of the Iranian ambassador in the meetings reflects the mistrust of the Iranian government in a number of staff members of President Talabani’s office.

The lack of confidence has prompted Tehran to assign its ambassador to directly supervise and attend the official security coordination meetings, to inform Iran of the decisions made prior to their execution and to assess the degree of conformity with the Iranian security and political policies in Iraq.Previously Washington had revealed the Iranian Quds force’s involvement in arm-smugglings, training Shiite militias, and penetrating in southern Iraq.

The US is supporting Maliki's gov't because Bush is an idiot. Considering that Maliki has now said that the Iraqis can handle things by themselves, thank you very much, I think it's time for the US to pull the troops out.

This will cause some immediate advantages for the US:
1 Bush can save face, by claiming it's at Iraqi request. There is no cut and run if you are politely asked by your ally to leave.

2 It will hamstring the moonbat left back in the States. Isn't it what they want?

3 The resources can be turned against the Irainian regime, the civilized world's real enemy.

Sounds like a win-win deal, to me...

From what we have seen from Anbar and ITM, the Awakening movement is gathering steam and Maliki's government is not going to survive until the next election cycle. That coalition is slowly coming together as Maliki either proves incapable or unwilling to deal with Iran and that is, actually, causing problems for the Shia coalition.

Remember that democracy is the worst form of government... except for all the rest. The time to end the support of killers is dawning in Iraq, and the radical Shia in the pay of Iran will find fewer and fewer friends as they are seen as supporting killers. That takes time to get through the system, and Maliki is being forced to dance... hard to do that with concrete around your feet. He sees the support going and is finding he can only anger his current supporters and those dwindle... and he can't reach out to a technocratic coalition forming a new Rural/Urban basis to end the killers.

Very messy.

Remember, that in the US there was 5 years of instability after the revolution and that Confederation was failing with more imprisoned and courthouses being burned north to south. And, until the end, the Confederation was supported until it was moved aside by a new government. Iraq is in that precise place where the government formed to help the Nation survive will not sustain it... with luck it will just be a parliamentary change-over. I expect that and the killers will have no support after that. We do not like the SOB in power and, as time goes on, neither do those in Iraq.

And what is coming is feared throughout the Middle East. That we already see.
