Random Facts about Me!

Apostate tagged me for this meme a few days ago. I'm not really good with memes. It's a meme called Eight Facts People Don't Know About Me

But a meme is a meme. You either do it or skip it altogether, no amending it or anything. So let's see what I can come up with. Eight things you might not know about me. So, Here I go with apologies to apostate for being late:

1. I'm a sci-fi channel and Japanese animation geek. You didn't suspect that, did you?

2. My favorite city (besides Los Angeles, where I consider home) is Salzburg(Mozart birthplace) , Austria.

3. I Hate Chocolate. I've tried so hard to like it just to fit in; but to no avail. I just can't bear the taste.

4. Three of my own favorite quotes are: "You can outsource many things but you can not outsource fun!", "If you don't ask, the answer is No!", "Being Lucky is OK!"

5. I love the New York Mets, the baseball team, although, I still don’t have a clue how the game is played...hahaha. Bet you could have never guessed that, could you?

6. I love opera. I would have been an opera singer if I was born in the U.S.

7. Sometimes when I am alone I sing to my cats but nobody has ever heard me.

8. Last one but a kooky one because I don't even like wine. My yet unrealized wish, is to have my own organic Vineyard.

Rather than tag other bloggers, I invite everyone who visits today to leave their own eight surprising facts about themselves in the comments section.

P.S. Please check out the Apostate's website. She is one of the most original thinkers I have come across in the blogsphere. She is also a very skilled writer. I hope someday, she publishes her own books.

1. I arrived in the United States as an infant aboard “Slick Airways.” That was the real name of the airline.
2. When my daughter was about four-years-old, every time I would start singing, she would loudly say, “Don’t sing!” And you thought you sang badly!
3. When I was eighteen, away from home, and desperate for work, I sold my body for $100 dollars a day – no, it had nothing to do with sex – I was a “hot body,” someone who crawled inside the cooling core of a nuclear reactor. I’ll bet you never guessed that one. 
4. When I was fourteen years old I painted a landscape in oil on my bedroom wall. It took me all summer.
5. My family, very religious, disowned me decades ago. So, if you expect me to be a saint you will be disappointed too.
6. I have been a parent, a single parent, a grandparent and a foster parent – in that order.
7. I have seen four world leaders in person, Queen Elizabeth II, the Shah of Iran, Prince Philip and Haile Salessie, but I have never seen a President of the United States in person.
8. While I have been to many opera’s, I have only been to one concert in my life – Cher’s Farewell Tour.

These days I mostly annoy world leaders.

Have I got a site for you!

1. Afghanistan Without a Clue, otherwise known as AWAC. He LOVES anime, and he discusses it a lot on his site.

3. Chocolate? Eh, I can take it or leave it. (Most of the time I take it, though. lol)

5. I can teach almost everything you ever wanted to know about baseball. I love football, but I can only explain a few plays. :)

Okay, here are mine:
1. I tried to join the Navy when I was 20 years old, but my health prevented it. I was very disappointed, because I was looking for discipline. Can you believe that I was rebelious child? lol.

2. I am allergic to coconut. Anything with coconut in it will cause me to be unable to breathe. Therefore I read all the labels. Boy, that takes a long time to go shopping with me!

3. I love the ballet. I took ballet for 5 years, but I have lost that touch this many years later.

4. I also love the opera! I do not understand what they are saying, but I love the melodies and the drama. I also love theatre! Give me a play over anything they put out in Hollywood. Yes, indeedy! (You can fix it when you mess up on tv, you have to keep going on stage. Those are the real actresses and actors!)

5. I love all animals, but I have 4 cats. lol.

6. I love to go fishing, but only if we are going to eat the fish we catch. I do not believe killing just for sake of killing. It is wrong. (I am also Mohawk Indian.)

7. I used to love to ski the big mountains! That is, until I got ill.

8. I love romance books, sci-fi books, drama books, historical books, THE BIBLE, and I cannot stand self-help books. They usually want you to buy more products so they can self-help themselves into your pockets! lol.

I hope this what you meant. Have a great day.

PS. Please stop over at Rosemary's Thoughts. I think I have the problem fixed, but I had a virus. I'm asking everyone to check their system with 2 tools I have provided (they're free) so that they can find out if they're okay. If not, these products will do the trick. Have a great day!

Hi Serendip! I talk too much on my blog, so there is very little people don't know about me and my obvious interests in dance, music, etc. But I try because your wish is my command:

1. In Iranian gatherings, something happens and all of a sudden men are in a corner and women are in another corner. I have hated being in women's corner, not because I don't like them, but because I know very little of what they are talking about, fashion, health, jewelery, beauty. On the other hand, I die for being in the men's corner where they are talking about economy and politics. I never say anything, though. I spend the evening feeling stupid, hence my dislike for accepting invitations.

2. Years of travelling for business have taught me to get ready for trips in the shortest possible time. I once had a one-hour notice for a European trip. I can be packed, organized, and ready to go anywhere in less than 2 hours.

3. I am a night owl and would only force myself to go to bed for the fear of my commitments the next day.

4.I sleep 5 hours a day.

5. I hate talking to people on airplanes. I don't even talk to people with whom I travel! Window seat, a book, my pre-ordered vegetarian meal (only when I fly!), and a blanket--I'll meet you at our destination! When people sitting next to me insist on having a conversation, I say: "No English. Sorry." This works everywhere except for flights with Iranians on it! While I'm at it, I should also say that I dislike talking on the phone, too.

6. I listen to the radio any chance I get. It is a dying medium and that makes me sad.

7. Shopping is not a part of my life. I only run to the store to buy my necessities and get out. A friend gave me a Nordstrom's gift card a while back. He was visiting again last weekend and saw the box with the gift card in it on my kitchen counter! He was baffled.

8. My chiropractor told me last month that the right side of my body now has measurements considerably different from my left! I don't know why this made me laugh! It was confirmation to my continued and evolving strangeness!

Be good Serendip. This was fun. Just make sure the thousands of people who come visit you won't tell my secrets to anyone!
