Soheil Asefi, Imprisoned Journalist

While journalist Soheil Asefi was sent yesterday directly from his court to prison, the judiciary set a 2,000 million Rials [about $225,000] bail for the release of another detained journalist, Farshad Ghorbanpour.
At the same time that Soheil Asefi was responding to questions posed by interrogators, Farshad Ghorbanpour made a call to his wife asking her to prepare the necessary bail amount for his temporary release.
Minutes later, prosecutors contacted Mrs. Ghorbanpour and announced that the bail amount was set at 2,000 million rials. Unable to collect the heavy bail amount, Mrs. Ghorbanpour plans to meet with the prosecutor along with her husband’s attorney, Nemat Ahmadi – even though she believes, “It doesn’t seem like they would pay any attention to what I have to say.” ...
