This is Islam at its most merciful state.
Serendip, what do you think of this music video?
U.N.K.L.E. - Eye For An Eye
I posted it on an Arab blog where the blogger was talking about another song this group did, but I think it relates to your "forgiveness" post, and to several of the posts you made today (including this one) as well.
I like the song and the graphics. Sometimes, I think that's the only way.
My therapist will not be happy with that statemetn...LOL
serendip, you don't need a therapist. there is nothing wrong with being logical. one dosnt' need to hate in order to defend onself and kill an attacker. do you feel hatred toward a lion that comes to eat you for lunch? you don't hate it but shoot anyway becuase you want to stay alive. that's the rule on this planet. That lion eats a rabbit without hating it.I think of course if one's reaction is just for revenge, its wrong.then forgiveness is the right thing to do. I dont really like the kabbala center people, whom you quote sometimes, that much and certainly not that khepelak(!), but I like it when he says: if you feel sad, angry or hateful, right away the light withdraws. to get back the light you try to erase these feelings and act with logic.(how easy to say!)
I checked the lyrics because I couldn't make out some of the words, and I decided I like this song a lot. I'm not sure what to make of it, but it makes me think.
Eye for an Eye Lyrics from the artist "Unkle"
Even now in heaven there were angels carrying savage weapons
An eye for an eye
A tooth for a tooth
Run, run, run
But you sure can't hide (x2)
Does our ruin benefit the earth?
Does it help the grass to grow and the sun to shine?
Is this darkness in you too?
Have you passed through this night?
Run, run, run
But you sure can't hide
Where you're going you're not coming back from
Run, run, run
But you sure can't hide
An eye for an eye
A tooth for a tooth
Run, run, run
But you sure can't hide (x2)
This great evil
Where's it come from?
How'd it steal into the world?
Who's doing this?
Who's killing us?
Mocking us with the sight of what we might have known?
Run, run, run
Run, run, run
An eye for an eye
A tooth for a tooth
Run, run, run
But you sure can't hide (x2)
(an eye for an eye)
Are you righteous?
(A tooth for a tooth)
Kind?
(Run, run, run but you sure can't hide)
Does your confidence lie in this?
(An eye for an eye)
Are you loved by all?
(A tooth for a tooth)
Do you imagine your sufferings will be less
(Run, run, run but you sure can't hide)
Because you loved goodness? Truth?
(An eye for an eye
A tooth for a tooth
Run, run, run
But you sure can't hide
Run, run, run
But you sure can't hide)
What are you to me?
Thank you Pc. I'm liking the lyric too. Certainly, thought provoking. I can write a book on this issue...perhaps I will when I get my justice...stand by...LOL
