Islam and Hejab!

The above poster is from Iran where it warns women that if they dress up like westerners they are the ones who are responsible for others' inappropriate actions. The poster reads" We, ourselves make the grounds available for street's harassments and intrusions" . "Covering up means Character".

More about the Women in the Islamic Republic in Iran by velvethammer.

Disregarding their international commitments, the mullahs have shown no qualms about executing women of all ages; from 13-year-old adolescents like Fatemeh Mesbah, Maryam Ghodsi-Maab, 16; Ezzat Mesbah, 15; Mojgan Jamshidi, 14; and Nooshin Emami, 16; to 70-year-old grandmothers like Ettesamossadat Karbasi; Arasteh Qolivand, 56; Soqra Davari, 54; and Massoumeh Shadmani, 50.
Mina Mohammadian was executed on February 29, 1987, on political charges. She was held in solitary confinement for eleven months prior to her execution. During that period, she went through forty interrogation sessions, during which she was subjected to the most horrendous tortures. She was repeatedly raped by the regime’s Guards. She was 22 at the time of her execution.
Women political prisoners are kept in so-called “residential units” (cement cages, 50 cm square), with their heads cramped down onto their knees, for months at a time. They are beaten regularly, up to 50 times a day. Another common torture of women political prisoners, besides systematic flogging, is suspension for hours from the ceiling by the hands, or upside down, by the feet. In some cases, the torture leads first to paralysis, then to the woman’s death. Nahid Shahrokhi- Mahalati, a 22-year-old teacher, was suspended from the ceiling for a prolonged period. She died under torture.

And then we have the Satannejad: Ahmadinejad says that women’s rights are respected…and a religious Iranian commenter in another blog upon my objection to his characterization of a cartoon on another blog. Here is what transpired yesterday on Kamangir's blog:

LOL. Who made that image. Kind of perverted and disrespectful of women I think.

Pervertd? disrespectful? only if you see women as sexual objects and can’t view them in any other light as human being who just happen to be women.

RE: Serendip:
No sorry! I hope you do not think that, I don’t view women as sexual objects, women and their rights are to be respected, not trampled upon. Hijab is about the protection of those rights and their sanctity. I encourage you to do some reading on this topic! See http://www.ezsoftech.com/akram/hijab.asp .

And here is what I wrote back fuming and hyperventilating:haha

Daiyy: That site is hate-filled gibberish and full of lunacy…Why do “women need protection from the eyes of non-believers”. This is the most racist,Anglophobic, Christianphobic, infidelphobic arrogant, and ethnocentric view of Islam. Perhaps this is Khomeinist or Shia Islam, eh?

You need to find other sites who don’t disgrace Islam like that and are not as oblivious as this one. Step into the 21st century. We are all humans and God’s children whether Muslims or non-Muslims. You’re obviously from a very religious background and it’s very sad to see that. You don’t need religion or a tent on your head to have values and humanity.

Hejab is about protection from what??? If you have a problem with your own morality and ethics, why do women have to pay for it. If all men think about women the way you obviously do, namely a piece of sexual meat that needs to be covered in the name of “sanctity”, and are so immature emotionally and spiritually and cannot control their desire , then you’re right, we do need protection from men like you. According to you, then every uncovered woman in the street should be raped left and right here in the West…and no one should ever get married or have loving relationships…

Women don’t need protection from men. The only protection that can be given to any being is by God. God is the only one who has the authority to judge us. No man or woman is allowed to do that. Maybe, men like you think they are God and they can do God’s work? eh?

I’m not expecting you to understand any of this because you’re operating system is incompatible with any new data or pieces of information. You can’t possibly process any information that is not already in your chip given the zealotry and the quality of “facts” you've been exposed throughout your life. Good luck though living here in the West.

If they think that image is political and disrespectful, don't even show them my Death to America political art - they'd really freak out.

Bless me Father for I have sinned, but it was soooooo fun!
