Update on Pasargad!

An Ancient Wine Making Vessele Found in Iran

A bit of history on Wine Making in Iran: Archaeological investigations have shown that in fact it was in Persia that the earliest wine was made in world history. [2] At Godin Tepe in Western Persia the earliest evidence for wine making and wine points to the fourth millennium BCE.[3]The jars found there have yielded evidence of wine residue and it is thought that they were used for storing wine as its funnel for the wine makers.[4] The location of Godin Tepe along the east-west trade route also plays along with the story of Shiraz grape having been taken to the West, and the evidence here suggests that wine making may very well have had its diffusion from this location (see full text).

I'm sure it was excellent too. When I lived in Iran (of course, alcohol was prohibited, even then) the vineyards produced the best, dry white grape juice I ever tasted. :)
The climate is perfect for wine production.

Dear Marie: May I ask how long you lived in Iran?

Do you have a blog of your own?
